Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my oven not heating to the correct temperature?

An oven that doesn't reach or maintain the right temperature usually has a worn-out bake or broil element (electric ovens), a faulty temperature sensor or thermostat, or a calibration issue in the electronic control board. In gas ovens, a weak igniter is the most common cause — if the igniter glows but takes more than 60 seconds to light the burner, it likely needs replacement. We service both gas and electric ovens in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody.

Why is one of my electric stove burners not heating up?

An electric stove burner that won't heat usually has a burned-out coil element, a faulty element receptacle (the socket it plugs into), or a broken infinite switch that controls the heat level. On smooth-top electric stoves, a cracked glass surface can also damage the radiant element underneath. Try swapping the non-working element with one of the same size from another burner — if it works in the other socket, the element is fine and the receptacle or switch needs replacement.

How much does oven or stove repair cost in the Tri-Cities?

Oven and stove repairs in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody generally range from $265 to $375. Heating element replacements and igniter swaps are the most common and affordable repairs. Thermostat, temperature sensor, and control board replacements are moderately priced. We provide a detailed diagnosis and an upfront quote so you know the exact cost before we begin any work.

Is it safe to use my oven if the self-clean cycle locks the door and it won't unlock?

A locked oven door after a self-clean cycle is a common issue and is usually not dangerous — the lock mechanism is designed to engage when internal temperatures are very high. The most common cause is a failed door lock motor or a tripped thermal fuse during the cleaning cycle. Do not try to force the door open, as this can damage the latch assembly. Unplug the oven for 10 minutes and try again. If it remains locked, a technician can safely release and replace the lock mechanism.

My electric stove element is sparking or glowing unevenly — should I stop using it?

Yes, stop using that element immediately. Sparking or uneven glowing usually means the element has developed a crack or break in the internal coil, which can cause an electrical short. Continued use risks damaging the element receptacle or the wiring behind it, which turns a simple element swap into a more expensive repair. Replacement heating elements for most brands are readily available and are one of the quickest repairs we perform.

Can you repair a wall oven or built-in cooktop, or just freestanding ranges?

We repair all types of cooking appliances — freestanding ranges, slide-in ranges, wall ovens (single and double), built-in cooktops, and drop-in models. Built-in appliances require careful handling during removal and reinstallation, and our technicians have the experience to service them safely. We work on electric models from brands like Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, KitchenAid, Bosch, and Jenn-Air across the Tri-Cities.
